Activities are taking place in Zagreb, with an excursion to Plitvice Lakes

Advent has propelled Zagreb to win the title of “Best Christmas Market” in 2016, 2017 and 2018 from a poll of thousands of travelers on the European Best Destinations website. Those in the mood for an intimate and joyful Advent experience are in the right place. Zagreb, in its full Advent glory, will show its many faces, all you have to do is choose the one you prefer. Experience the atmosphere of Zagreb during Advent while riding a Segway and put your ice skating skills to the test at the Ice Park on King Tomislav Square. Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the best “bucket list” places to visit in Europe, even if the falls completely freeze over. When they do, the effects are quite breathtaking.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1

Getting to know Zagreb

Arrival in Zagreb and hotel check-in. The winterly Zagreb is both known as the only capital city in the world with a ski world cup race and for its extraordinary Advent season. Several Advent events will be taking place in Ban Jelačić Square, the city's central square.

Then rent a pair of ice skates and try them out at the Ice Park – an ice-skating rink on King Tomislav Square. Afterward, treat yourself to an assortment of exquisite food and drinks and sip mulled wine that will keep you warm.

Fuliranje is the most original Advent event in town. It was the first event to present the best restaurant and winery owners from Croatia. Over the last years, over one million visitors enjoyed numerous concerts, musical events, DJ events, street performances, and exhibitions.

Day 2

Segway City Tour

After breakfast, you will have a unique tour of Zagreb on Segways. Don't worry; the tour is appropriate for all ages! After a short Segway tutorial, you will receive a safety helmet and then go on the tour accompanied by a professional tour guide. You'll find out all about how Zagreb got its name and what purpose the cannon in Lotrščak Tower serves. Afterward, we'll take you to Zagreb Cathedral and show you the scale model of Zagreb. Then you'll head to the renowned Tkalčićeva Street, St. Mark's Church and climb to the top of the Lotrščak tower.

Afternoon at leisure. You can visit the stands at the Advent

Day 3

Experience the winterly Plitvice Lakes

After breakfast at the hotel start the tour to the magnificent Plitvice Lakes. Every season of the year brings a different spectacle for the senses at the Plitvice Lakes. The Plitvice Lakes are famous for their 16 cascading lakes that form a gorgeous ring of water. The stunning scenery in the park was created by the flow of water over limestone that over time created travertine barriers that resulted in waterfalls, lakes, and caves.

The Park was designated a national park in 1949 and in 1979 UNESCO entitled it a World Heritage Site. Plitvice National Park can rightfully be called the most magnificent place in all of Europe. Lunch at a local restaurant on your own. Continue the walks through the park and forest and enjoy the beauty surrounding you. Return to the hotel in Zagreb in the evening.

Day 4

Shopping for Christmas presents
