The week on Korčula island presents a chance to deepen and renew your Yoga and meditation practice, or just discover their healing benefits through daily Yoga classes and guided meditations. Here you can learn a few basic interesting facts about the places you are going to visit and about the professional instructors that are going to work with you during your stay on the Korčula island.
Korčula
Known as the "mini Dubrovnik", Korčula is famous for its quiet coves, wine, small sand and pebbly beaches, glorious old town part and is the perfect place to acquire specific knowledge of the famous Croatian grapes over a wine tasting. If you wish you can kayak, bike or hike your way through or around the island as well.
Vrnik
Despite no cars, no roads and no shops, this intriguing little island with shaded swimming coves and a newly opened art gallery is the only one that is still inhabited in this archipelago except for Korčula.
The second-largest island in the archipelago offers its visitors pebbly beaches in tranquil surroundings of a picturesque island village.
Previously an important point of origin for many stonemasons, sculptors and stone quarries, it nowadays offers the best insight into one of Korčula’s most important crafts.
The well-built houses and homes around the island testify to the centuries-old craft of the local population that peaked at almost two hundred at the beginning of the 20th century.
Ayurveda and Yoga are two science-sisters of the Indian Vedic wisdom. Both the sciences were born together, developed together and are practiced together.
Ayurveda is known in India as the “hand of the Mother”. These workshops will offer a basic knowledge of Ayurveda that can be applied in your daily life and “mother” you whenever necessary.
Brigitte Bauer, certified Ayurveda teacher and therapist
Brigitte discovered her love for nature and plants in early childhood and at the age of 13 she got her first initiation into transcendental meditation. At the age of 25 she met her first Ayurveda master and graduated at the Istituto Italiano di Ayurveda di Firenze (The Italian Ayurvedic Institute, Florence). She studied under Vaidya Bhagwan Dash and Lalita Kashap, to whom she owes her love of this ancient art. They are directors of an Ayurvedic hospital in New Delhi, where she practised various treatments, including Panchakarma.
She continued her studies in Rishikesh in Northern India, where she offered Ayurvedic massage therapy in ashrams (spiritual retreats). She also began practising and expanding her knowledge of massage for babies and children in Orissa, at the Prabhuji yoga school.
Brigitte has also travelled extensively in India in order to deepen her knowledge of Ayurveda. These journeys have allowed her to establish a profound contact with the practice of Ayurveda and to incorporate it into the life she shares with her family and with her clients and her students.
Ayurveda is known in India as the “hand of the Mother”. As the mother of three it is this aspect of her training and learning that really speaks to her and has inspired her in her professional trajectory.
The knowledge and practical skills that you learn during her courses can transform your life and fill it with joy, love, self-awareness, greater consideration, and awareness towards those around you.
These courses offer a basic knowledge of Ayurveda that can be applied in your daily life.
She also offers consultations and treatments in:
- Diet and the use of plants and spices in Ayurveda
- Ayurveda massages and specific treatments
- Ayurvedic practices to implement in daily life to improve lifestyle
During the last 10 years she studied and developed a bridge between the ancient tradition in India and Western, more modern modality.
Nina Fabris Telenta, certified Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga instructor
Nina has discovered a passion for Yoga thanks to her friend Petra Carmichael, Ashtanga Vinyasa instructor, back in 2008. Nina's education began at the Divya Yoga school, focusing on the Dharma Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and the styles originating from it - Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Power Yoga, Slow Flow, and Restorative Yoga. Nina has successfully completed Vinyasa Multistyle 200 RYT certification at the Divya Yoga school. Each year Nina attends several workshops, including those organized at the very source and cradle of yoga - India. There she has successfully completed the Hatha Yoga 300 YIC certification at the Svyasa Yoga University. In the year 2017 she opened a Yoga studio called "Balanca" in her hometown, on the magnificent island of Korčula...and her Yoga journey is surely going to last forever if you ask her, that much is her passion and love that is dedicated to her teaching and methods.
