There's an idyllic fishing village that has somehow managed to remain unspoiled by the uncontrollable march of tourism where you can find meditative peace even in the summer when the entire Mediterranean is flooded with tourists. As you lie on the beach, the gentle maestral wind alleviates the sweltering summer heat by carrying the scent of the sea with it; while the aromas of medicinal plants, grapevines, and olives spread from the island's interior. All that is left for you to do in this tranquil Mediterranean oasis is to unwind and completely detach yourself from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Kaprije is a small island in Šibenik's well-indented archipelago. The island was named after the Mediterranean plant caper – the plant is best known for the edible flower buds (capers), often used as a seasoning, and the fruit (caper berries), both of which are usually consumed pickled.
Caper was probably abundant at the time the island was settled by the refugees from the mainland, during the Turkish invasion in the 16th and 17th century. They came there to work on the olive and wine groves owned by Šibenik‘s landowners and noble families. So, the islanders are traditionally fishermen as well as olive oil producers and wine-growers – that should mean that you can find some good local specialities there.
The parish church of Saint Peter dates from the 16th century, too. If you wish to see some other historical curiosities, you can enjoy exploring the underwaters as well... divers will be particularly interested to see one of the most attractive wrecks in the Adriatic: the warship Francesca da Rimini from 1944 which is located at the depth of 38-50m on the north side of the island.
If you're arriving by car, your hosts will be waiting for you at the entrance to the town of Šibenik and then escort you to the free parking-lot where your car will be stationed during your stay on Kaprije. If you're arriving by bus or train, they will welcome you at the station and transport you to the port.
You will depart for Kaprije together with your hosts and head to your apartment with luggage in tow. This is the only village on the island with a hundred or so permanent residents, a post office, outpatient clinic, shop, a few quaint bars, and a dozen restaurants highly praised by yachters, where you can try some of the local specialties. You will fall in love with this place instantly.
After breakfast and a morning cup of coffee, you will head for the „Introduction to island life” in Croatian, English, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish private walking tour with your host. On this inspirational walk, you will listen to stories about life on this tiny island, the Mediterranean aromatic plants, the sea, and your immediate surroundings. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and unwinding by the pool or the sea and take in the scents and sounds of nature. Overnight stay.
Make sure you have a hearty breakfast because afterwards, your host is taking you on a wonderful full-day private boat excursion to Kornati National park, a nautical paradise composed of 89 unforgettable islands, islets and rocks. On the way to Kornati and back, pending weather conditions, you might stop for a swim at some of the gorgeous beaches on the islands that you will be passing by.
Optionally, you can also take part in a fun activity where the swimmer is being towed by the boat (weather conditions permitting), go hiking to the top of the cliff, or diving into the sea from the cliffs and then snorkelling under the cliffs and staring into the underwater abyss. Filled with impressions, return to your apartment or take a stroll through the village and have dinner on your own.

Spend days unwinding, meditating and exploring the island.
Your host will hand you a map of the beaches, some of which can be reached by bike or on foot; while others can only be accessed by boat. If you know how to pilot a small boat, you will have a 3m-long Yamaha boat with a 5 hp outboard motor at your disposal for an entire day of exploring the pristine beaches of Kaprije and the surrounding islands or you can even go fishing.
Fans of biking and hiking will receive bikes and the host will give you a hiking & biking map and explain all the details so that you can choose a trail with a difficulty level that suits you best.
If you feel like spending some time on land, we recommend that you visit the town of Šibenik. You can obtain the Fast ferry (catamaran) schedule from your host as soon as you arrive on the island. Šibenik is a treasure trove of culture and it bears witness to the rich and formidable history of Dalmatian cities.
We can also offer you an optional full-day boat excursion to Krka National Park or Skradin, to be more exact, which is one of the entrances into this vast and exceptionally valuable nature area. Overnight stays in your Kaprije apartment.
