The most famous wine from the island of Krk is Žlahtina, a mysterious wine from the town of Vrbnik. The world grape variety database contains DNA data for most known grape varieties, but Žlahtina somehow remains a secret. The Vrbnik variety has been thoroughly analysed, but its DNA doesn't match any of the known grape cultures in the world. Its name is derived from the old Slavic word ‘žlahten’, which means noble. It is best served chilled between 8 and 12 °C.

Start your day with a rich buffet breakfast before heading out for a guided tour of Vrbnik, renowned for its winemaking and the unique Žlahtina grape variety. This ancient, stone-built town seems to emerge from the sea and ascend into the sky, creating a picturesque setting that has long inspired artists.
Your guided tour will take you through the historic town center, featuring notable sites such as the parish church and Klančić, one of the narrowest streets in the world. You’ll also see Dverčić, the small town gate, and an old mansion that once belonged to the noble Frankopan family.
A walk between the parish church and the belltower will lead you to a belvedere with stunning views of the mainland. Continuing down, you will encounter the remains of the town wall and tower.
Visit the Vitezić family library, which includes a reconstruction of a Renaissance printing machine. The library houses rare and valuable items, including the "Atlas scolasticus itinerarius" by Johann David Koehler, printed in 1718 in Nürnberg. After your tour, enjoy some leisure time to explore on your own.
In the evening, return to the hotel for an ample 4-course dinner, accompanied by a glass of Vrbnička Žlahtina wine.
