Activities are taking place in North Dalmatia

The prestigious National Geographic Traveller included the Via Dinarica Trail amongst world's best destinations. The Via Dinarica is a mega-mountaineering and hiking trail, connecting natural and cultural sights in the Dinarids.

Biking tour includes a visit to the Skradinski buk waterfall. It is the longest waterfall on the Krka River and one of the best-known natural beauties of Croatia. Its cascades are composed of travertine barriers, islands, and lakes. They can be viewed throughout the entire year thanks to a network of paths and bridges that enable comfortable and safe walking.

Have you tried Stand Up Paddling yet? Everyone can do it and it is a fun activity for calm and relaxing days. If you want more out of it, warm up and grab the paddle. It is a full body workout and you will feel great after a SUP session.

Day-by-day itinerary

DAY 1

The Milky Way

The agricultural estate is a perfect place to start this journey. Friendly hosts will guide you to your rooms, which have that authentic Dalmatian style. You will be surrounded by stone-built houses, a traditional Dalmatian tavern, and vivid gardens. In case you would like to have dinner at one of the restaurants in the village, your hosts can help you book a table. If you happen to arrive on Monday, your hosts will offer you a traditional three course dinner made with homemade ingredients for the price of 25 euro per person. As you head to the bed, remember you are in the village with no light pollution so try counting all the stars for a good night’s sleep.

DAY 2

The sound of the bike chain

Start with a power breakfast that will boost your day. You are just 20 minutes away from the Krka National Park where we have organized a biking trip for you. The adventure starts in the little town of Skradin where you will be greeted by your tour guide. After a short introduction and safety briefing, you will enter the Krka National Park on a bike. Besides biking, you will get a chance to visit the Visovac island and the Franciscan monastery, swim on the beach and see the amazing Skradinski buk waterfall. Later that afternoon, you will return to Skradin where your biking trip ends. The agricultural estate won TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence so we are confident you will have a comfortable bed to go to after an exciting trip.

DAY 3

I Believe I Can Fly

By now you must have definitely heard the word “pomalo”. People from Dalmatia use it all the time and it perfectly describes their laid-back lifestyle. So today, you can take it easy. After breakfast, you will have time to prepare for your next extraordinary experience. It’s just a 20-minute drive to the falconry center where you will have a guided tour. The passionate guide will give you a chance to learn more about hawks, eagles, owls, and other birds. This is a special place in Croatia that has a veterinary station for injured birds. The center has a team of experts who are dedicated to preserving a variety of bird species. The tour is very entertaining and educational so we are confident you will love it. After you return to the estate, you will have time to relax by the pool and prepare for dinner. Final overnight at the estate.

DAY 4

Row, row, row your boat

Bags are packed and ready to go. It’s time for an early breakfast and check-out. Prepare your swimsuits. We are taking you to the Zrmanja river for an exciting kayaking adventure. The starting point is 90 minutes away by car from the estate. The professional guide will give you a safety briefing and prepare you for the trip. Once you get in the kayak, you will feel the adrenaline rush. The Zrmanja river is one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe. crystal clear warm water and an astonishing canyon will definitely put a spell on you. You will get a life jacket and a helmet so you can occasionally refresh yourself and swim around the waterfalls. There will be an organized return transfer from the endpoint back to your car. After packing and saying goodbye to the Zrmanja river, you will continue to your next destination. Starigrad, where you will be accommodated for 2 nights, is less than an hour away.

DAY 5

Carpe diem

After experiencing a beautiful biking tour and an awesome kayaking trip, we suggest a mixture of activities. Your apartment is located between the seaside and Velebit mountain, so you might want to start your day with a relaxing activity before noon and try some stand-up paddling that we can organize for you. Or you can just soak up the sun at the beach and prepare for the afternoon hike to Starigrad mirila and the Veliki Vitrenik peak 415 m.a.s.l.

Stone monuments to the departed that can be found along the mountain paths of Mt. Velebit are called ‘mirila’, which can roughly be translated as ‘the measurement stones’ (the local dialect). When a person died on a mountain slope and had to be carried to the cemetery, it was only permitted to stop and lay down the deceased on the ground in one place - the place where the deceased would greet the sun for the last time. On this resting place of the deceased a mirilo would be erected to preserve his memory. At the first site along this trail, which can be reached from the road from the centre of Starigrad, is one of the rarely preserved headstones with an engraved anthropomorphic symbol. From here, the mountain trail leads to the site Opuvani dolac, offers a magnificent view over Starigrad and leads back to Starigrad along a skilfully built trail down the steep slopes of Veliki Vitrenik. At the end of the trail, you can visit a small ethnography museum in the village of Marasovići to become better acquainted with the traditions, customs and culture of the Velebit region. Last overnight in the Starigrad area.

DAY 6

Stop and take a deep breath

Have a hearty breakfast before you check out of the apartment, pick up some snacks in the local store, and head towards Paklenica. The Paklenica National Park is truly a magnificent place with many natural values such as the autochthonous forests of black pine. You can drive all the way to the entrance and park your car there, so it is close on your way back. Your goal for the day is to reach the mountain lodge which will be your base for the next two days. The lodge is located at the beginning of the Velika Paklenica canyon. During the summer it is a perfect place to cool down and enjoy a pleasant climate. Tighten your hiking boots and get ready for another easy 2-hour hike. It will be a great introduction for the upcoming day. Check-in at the mountain lodge and have dinner.

DAY 7

Explore a gem hidden in the mountain

Rise and shine. Feel free to lie in a bit longer. Open your windows and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Can you feel the difference? It’s amazing. You are at the perfect place from which you can explore the wonderful Via Dinarica trails. See why National Geographic Traveller awarded Via Dinarica as one of the best destinations in 2017. Be a part of the trail that connects the Balkan countries and discover the wonders Paklenica has to offer. Enjoy your breakfast and then choose one of the hiking trails we will recommend. The Park area contains 150-200 km of trails and paths, from those characterized as tourist trails to those characterized as hiking trails - leading to the highest peaks of the Velebit Mountain. The trails in the Park are marked with red and white signs while trail crossings are marked with direction boards. Along the way, make sure you stop for a second and fully appreciate a present moment surrounded by pristine nature and wildlife. Dinner and overnight at the mountain lodge.

DAY 8

Go underground or go home

After breakfast, you can check-out and begin your descent, but if you haven’t yet, we suggest you visit Manita Peć cave (entrance at 500 m.a.s.l.). With a rich underground fauna, it is the only cave in the Park area that is suitable for tours. As a typical karst cave, it is rich in cave formations or dripstones that differ in shape and origin. The cave boasts impressively large underground halls: the largest is 65 m long and 32 m high. If you decide to visit Manita Peć, you will spend about 30 minutes in the cave accompanied by a guide. The temperature in the cave is around 9°C all year round, so bring adequate clothing.
